A drive through the Umpqua Valley is nothing short of a scenic paradise offering wide spaces, rolling vineyards, blankets of orchards and fields of gold. Adding a spray of captivating purples and blues to this colorful quilted landscape is a newcomer – lavender.
Lavender farms throughout Roseburg and the surrounding area have been increasing and starting to really catch the attention of outsiders, locals, businesses and investors.
“We have a microclimate and the perfect soil. It has the right temps, right amount of rain, right amount of sun. We have perfect conditions for it,” said Growing Miracles Lavender Garden owner, Keri Kovach Roid.
The public are invited to see, taste, feel and definitely learn more about lavender at the Growing Miracles Lavender Garden’s 3rd Annual Lavender Festival & Farm Tour on July 10, 11 and 12.
The festival, which drew in 9,500 people in 2019, will have over 35 local vendors, u-pick, lavender lemonade, yoga in the lavender, demonstrations, music, food and plenty of beautiful lavender to admire.
The event is free and runs 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The farm is located at 508 Lower Garden Valley Road in Roseburg.
