For starters, never gets too crowded here in the Umpqua, even during the busy summer season. Planning out your trip early though, ensures you’ll get the best of best campsites and the best spot on the lawn to catch a free concert.

Camping spots

Nothing says summer quite like a camping trip. There’s no shortage of campsites around the Roseburg area. The North Umpqua River corridor is a popular area to set up camp for a long weekend. Here are just a few of our favorite spots that fill up quickly.

Cavitt Creek Falls
This BLM campsite features maintained landscaping, and all sites are a short walk to the waterfall grotto, which is perfect for swimming and cooling off on a hot summer day.

Rafting River Routes

The Umpqua River is great place to beat the heat when it’s hot out. For those wanting a chill day on the river, the float from John P Amacher Park to River Forks County Park is a fun float that keeps things exciting with the occasional stretch of rapids. For those looking for more white water, the stretch of the North Umpqua River between Boulder Flat Campground to Gravel Bin Boat Launch has class IV and V rapids. We recommend hiring a river rafting guide if you’re planning on rafting this section, here are a few to consider.
