Caro Building Mural
The mural work is rooted in a shared intention: to notice beauty everywhere we go—and to help others see it too. Whether it’s a patch of poppies growing on the side of the road or a sweeping mountain view, we’re drawn to the small, meaningful details that make a place feel alive.
Katie and Karen's Roseburg mural, Notice Beauty, is a love letter to the region’s gorgeous natural landscape. Set against the backdrop of Toketee Falls, the piece features a cascade of local flora and fauna—including a western tanager, swallowtail butterfly, foxglove, fireweed, trillium, columbine, and mushrooms—each element carefully chosen to reflect the vibrancy of this place. It’s our hope that this mural brings a sense of wonder to the community and encourages everyone who passes by to slow down, look closely, and truly notice the beauty that surrounds them.

About the Artists
Katie Daisy grew up in the meadows of rural Illinois, where her love of nature first took root. Now living in Sisters, Oregon, she works in watercolor and acrylic to express the magic of a life lived close to the land. Her vibrant style—full of wildflowers, birdsong, and hand-lettered quotes—has been licensed by brands like Target, Pottery Barn, and the Oprah Winfrey Network. Katie is the author of the New York Times bestselling book How to Be a Wildflower, a field guide to slowing down and savoring life’s simple joys.
Karen Eland uses her fine art skills to create detailed, realistic paintings with unusual mediums like coffee and beer. What began with an espresso in 1998 has blossomed into hundreds of works ranging from travel scenes to playful reimaginings of classic paintings. Her precise, observational style has led to commissions for the Brewers Association, Worthy Brewing, and more.Together, our contrasting styles—Katie’s expressive, nature-soaked illustrations and Karen’s finely rendered realism—complement each other in a way that brings murals to life. Our first collaboration was a woodland-themed mural in bakery in Bend, and we’ve since painted over a dozen walls across the region. Our creative process is shaped by our friendship and a mutual love of the outdoors, often fueled by hikes, lake swimming, and wildflower gathering adventures.
